What programs will help pay for home care?

My mother-in-law is starting to require more hours of care than my wife and I are able to provide right now. Are there are any programs out there that help pay for the cost of home care?

This is a question that a lot of people have been asking recently. Unfortunately, there isn't one simple answer, it will depend on several factors.

If they are on Medicaid and meet several other requirements, home care may be paid for. Medicare, on the other hand, very rarely pays for home care, but it's worth investigating your particular situation further.

With long term care insurance, depending on the policy, there can be payouts as well. However, most people do not have this type of coverage. Private medical insurance may cover home care if there is a direct medical need.

I hope this helps to shed some light on the situation, although each case is unique. Good luck!
